By increase recycle content in our standard products, with external scrap types such as RSI and IBA, we will improve our cost and increase profitability of these products. Therefore, we will move as we can of our production from 1050 to 3xxx RFAs.
**IBA = Incinerator bottom ash (IBA) is a form of ash produced in incineration and are remains from residual waste after combustion. The metal is not melted in this process, only incinerated. Then it’s sorted and sold as IBA for remelting.
*RSI = Recycled Scrap Ingot (RSI) is a block (typically SOW) of aluminum only containing PCS or processed dross. For us, it means that we can replace some prime remelt with RSI, reducing our CO2-footprint and gain some metal cost advantage.
